China's economic development is closely related with agriculture.With social progress,the rural economy has gradually emerged many problems.The Farmers' professional cooperatives is a good way to solve these problems.However,Farmers' professional cooperatives don`t develop smoothly,accompanied with some problems,such as poor communication,lack of funds and technology.specialized farmer cooperatives,characterized by the "Acquaintances",decide the fact that social capital will play an important role in solving these problems.Especially,the leader of the cooperatives or the directors` social capital matters more to the development of the cooperative.This paper sets the director's social capital as an independent variable and cooperatives` productivity as a dependent variable.The director's social capital is examined from three dimensions of director's commercial-social capital,political-social capital and institutional-social capital.Meanwhile,this paper,combined with the survey data of 91 cooperatives in Jiangxi Province and multiple regression model,will discuss how directors` social capital influence the productivity of farmers' professional cooperatives.This paper can draw the following findings: firstly,the director general`s capital matters to the productivity of cooperatives.Secondly,the director general`s commercial-social capital is positively related with cooperatives` performance,but the “strong communication ability of the chairman” has no significant effect.Thirdly,Director-General's political-social capital is positively related to the productivity of cooperatives,but “the chairman of the company recognizes the number of employees in government departments” and “director positions(referred to as the mayor,model worker,deputies,etc.)”,these factors have a limited impact;Fourth,social capital under the Directors' system is positively related with the productivity of cooperatives,but “how director general know about the system” has no significant effect.Based on the above conclusions,the author will put forward the following suggestions: firstly,it is recommended to speed up the establishment of the director general's commercial social capital system,so as to provide a solid foundation for improving the management mechanism of specialized farmer cooperatives.Secondly,we should continue to strengthen the political and social capital system of the directors,providing a reliable support for improving the management mechanism of specialized farmer cooperatives.Finally,efforts should be focused on building the social capital of the chairman system and providing practical guarantees for enhancing the management mechanism of farmers' professional cooperatives.
