Inventory Control Strategy Optimization For Large Supermarket Chains A

In recent years,as online retailers' bonus disappear,The concept of "new retail" makes e-commerce focus on physical stores,and Physical retail begin to regain the hope.As a segment of the physical retail industry,the advantages of large supermarket chains are the numerous physical stores and self-built distribution centers.But with the speeding up of the circulation of commodities speed,the lead time of the large supermarket chains from the original few weeks,a few days,up to now has achieved daily most goods distribution,which makes the original ordering strategies are no longer applicable,and needs an appropriate inventory control strategy urgently.Based on daily food of the large chain supermarket A,this paper improved the problem of daily food inventory control strategy by finding problems,exploring the source of problem,putting forward the improvement scheme,simulating the inventory data,evaluating strategies and so on.Firstly,we found that supermarket A has periodic shortages and inventory problems from the inventory status.Through analyzing the sources of inventory changes,we found that the root causes of inventory problems mainly come from two aspects.On the one hand,the sales factor: a sharp rise of sales on weekends;On the other hand,the ordering factor: the ordering divisor setting is unreasonable.Secondly,because sales factor as the festival factors was uncontrollable factors for supermarket,so this paper improved ordering strategy to solve the problem of the inventory: 1.used weeks in the sales factor instead of the previous day sales factor,2.added the layout divisor to the safety stock factor.Finally,using the Excel VBA programming-simulation inventory data and combining with the relevant inventory cost based on the optimization evaluation model,we found that new order strategy avoided the detonation storehouse and shortage phenomenon,and reduce inventory cost.
