Drones are a rapidly evolving technology with potential for different surveying and measurement purposes.With various embedded sensors,drones can provide data from their surroundings with a capability to easily reach places that can otherwise be difficult to measure.The ability to perform tasks while flying in the air and being able to do them both quickly and inexpensively is what separates the drones from more traditional measurement methods.It is also what makes the use of drones interesting in industrial environments where there is a need to have more accurate and timely measurement systems to provide information about material use and management.The objective of this master's thesis is to research and analyze if a drone based measurement methods could fully replace the traditional measurement in agricultural environment of the Republic of Uzbekistan.In this thesis,a drone based measurement system in the agriculture of Uzbekistan is considered a concept,where a drone used for multiple purposes,starting from simple collection the measurement data by taking photographs,field monitoring,to identifying stressed plants,mapping and fertilizing the crops through using variable sensors.The motivation for this thesis comes from the need to understand the capabilities of the drone based measurement technology in more detail.An increasing amount of research related to drone use has been published during the last five years but there are still gaps in knowledge related to how these kinds of systems should be implemented in practice as they have to be customized according to local needs.There is also a need to research how the system would compare against other,more traditional measurement methods used for same purposes.Thus,the feasibility of the concept in this thesis means not only if the system is capable of performing its tasks in general but also how well it compares against the traditional measurement systems.This thesis was conducted with Program Analysis,Evaluation,or Projection methodology.The concept's feasibility was studied by analyzing the agricultural environment of Uzbekistan.Prior research related to the use of drones in Agriculture of other countries was analyzed through a structured literature review,from which recommendations for a good concept implementation could be derived.The basic of the concept further analyzed pointing out its Strength,Weaknesses,Opportunities and Threads.The concept was built by applying the local needs to the concept alongside with the theoretical recommendations through organizing a survey among the people in Uzbekistan.The cost of drone based measurements was evaluated by comparing against traditional measurement methods and by comparing the system against.From the results of the evaluation,the feasibility of the concept could be assessed and recommendations for improving and developing the system in the future described.The thesis research showed that a concept of implementation of Drones in Uzbekistan's agriculture is a feasible and practically working.The concept can produce very time and cost effective and being capable of replacing more traditional measurement methods.The concept is limited by being dependent on good weather conditions and highly cut by government regulations.
