Reinterpretation Of The Concept Of Information:Supplement And Development Of The Theory Of Dissipative Structure Of The Brussels School To Shannon's Information Theory

Complexity Science is rising,which takes complexity and complex phenomena as its research object,and its thinking mode beyond traditional science is influencing natural science and social science gradually.At the same time,with the development of digital network and new media,human beings are stepping into the information society.As the core concept of communication science,"information" is becoming the core issue of this era.However,the study of the concept of "information" in communication science still remains in Shannon's information theory,and the mainstream communication needs new thinking paradigm and theoretical guidance to supplement and revise the concept of "information" for the new era.Based on this background,this paper develops the research from the horizontal perspective of the subject and the vertical perspective of the history,in order to have the reference significance to the communication researchers and learners in the research of the concept of "information".At the theoretical level,this study first re-examines the concept of "information" in communication science,and thoroughly combs the concept of "information" in Shannon's information theory and the academic development of its introduction by communication science.Secondly,this study focuses on the reflection of information theory in three stages of complexity science research.Brussels School as one of the main research stages of complexity science,this paper combs and refines the theoretical connotation and philosophical value of Brussels School's ideological system.The theory of dissipative structure is the representative theory of Brussels school,this paper rethinks and reconstructs the concept of "information" based on this theory.The view of non-linear system of dissipative structure theory deepens the relative cognition of information function,the development perspective of system evolution driven by fluctuations shows that the "Noise" factor of information is relative,and the regular perspective of the inevitable bifurcation and selection of the system broadens the connotation and extension of the concept of "selection" of information,the open communication perspective of entropy change theory adds dynamic features to the concept of information entropy.At last,this study tries to give a new interpretation to the concept of "information" from the perspective of Communication Science: Information is a self-organizing system which is in an open communication environment and has nonlinear coherent function and obeys the law of selection.On a practical level,this article takes the information spread of COVID-19 as an example,itinitially shows how the concept of "information",reconstructed from the thought of Brussels School,provides a new research perspective and a new research framework for the study of network communication applications,combining theory with practice,it makes the research more realistic and instructive.
