Building Shanghai into a “favorable city of innovation,a city of humanities and a city of ecology” is a new functional orientation of Shanghai and an initiative for the development of the country. For the internationally renowned metropolis, the Shanghai Museum,a landmark museum, attracting hundreds of millions of tourists each year from all over the world, shouldering the responsibility of spreading Shanghai culture.Culture is the soul of tourism.Tourism is the platform of culture. With the rapid development of museum tourism around the world, the “visitor experience” has been increasingly valued by the government and museum management. However, compared with world-famous museums,Shanghai Museum also has a large gap between its development status and its “central” urban positioning and overall planning for urban tourism, which led to the problems of unattractiveness cultural products, unadvanced experience and low brand identity.Based on the research on the construction and management of urban museums at home and abroad, this paper examines the development of tourism in Shanghai Museum on the basis of clarifying the concepts and theories related to museum tourism, using a large number of questionnaires and in-depth interviews.Visitors come to explain the current state of their experience and restore the true experience of visitors.Using the ASEB grid method, the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and threats from the four perspectives of environment, activities, experience and interests are based on the perspective of the visitor experience to find out the problems existing in the operation management of Shanghai. The strategy of improving the tourist experience of the Shanghai Museum was put forward, and the role of the Shanghai Metropolitan Museum in promoting urban tourism in Shanghai was truly brought into play.
