A Study On The Pragmatic Function Of Picture Language In Newspaper News Discourses

Pictures or images are playing an increasingly important role in this era,we are in a humen history has never been a image rich period of excess,many scholars all think we enter the "map reading age",and in this era of visual culture,the image language is becoming more and more important,many media are involuntary skewed towards using pictures to spread,most big newspaper media say the impact of new media,and so on the way to seek breakthrough also add value for the pictures.This article images as a presentation of the visual language,combined with the related theories of pragmatics,seeking image language in the newspaper news discourse of speakers will be applied to image the words of the language will produce effect so as to explore its pragmatic functions,using the content analysis method,comparative method,describes the interpretation method and other research methods,for the People's Daily from 2015 to 2020 pictures for language corpus to carry on the analysis,from research that think the picture in the newspaper news discourse language has four pragmatic functions.In the first chapter,the author discusses the independent speech function of picture language in newspaper news discourse,and holds that picture language,as long as it can be independently spoken with the support of specific context,will no longer be the foil or decoration of written language,but can be independently spoken.In the second chapter,I mainly study the narrative function of picture language in newspaper news discourse,which mainly USES speech act theory to analyze the speaker not only to try to narrate,but also to act by words and deeds to convey some subtext to the listener.The third chapter mainly describes the guiding function of the picture language of "the mind moves with the image".This chapter adds the analysis methods of semiotics and imagology,so as to analyze the correlation between symbols and listeners in the picture language,as well as the metaphor of speakers in the picture language,so as to realize the guiding function.The fourth chapter is about the irresistible easy communication function of "sight".This chapter mainly describes the easy communication function of picture language in newspaper news discourse from three aspects: the change of audience's thinking and reading mode,charm of picture language itself and the visualimpact of picture language.The four pragmatic functions mentioned above make picture language play an important role in newspaper news discourse.
