In the process of color measurement, calculation and the evaluation of color difference, the CIE standard colorimetric observer is widely used to characterize the average color vision of the human.Studies have shown that there are differences in color vision between individuals even for observers with normal color vision. With the development of electronic technology, more and more color information of digital images and other files are reproduced and transmitted by means of different display devices.Meanwhile,narrow-bandwidth display devices are also widely used in the field of image science due to the advantages of wide color gamut.Reproduction of color information based on a narrow bandwidth display device will magnify the individual differences between different observers. In order to study the effect of different primary color spectra on observers'color discrimination, this subject selected four professional display devices with different RGB primary color spectra, and selected three combination to build color matching experimental device.63 observers with normal color vision were conducted to carry out a color matching experiment based on 5 colors recommended by CIE.315 sets of color matching data were collected.Based on collected data:1)Calculate the CIELAB color difference(ΔE*ab)and CIEDE2000 color difference value(ΔE*00)between the matching and target colors to evaluate the effect of the primary color spectrum of the display device on the color matching accuracy.2)Take the inverse covariance matrix parameters of a*and b*to construct the observer chromaticity ellipse, and use the size(S)of the ellipse to characterize the influence of the primary color spectrum of the display on the observer variation.3)Test the performance of the CIE color matching function. In order to further study the influence of the peak wavelength position of primary color spectrum of the display on the color matching result, set the NEC-PA242W as target device and the LED Panel as the matching device(generated 4 combinations).6colors(including 5 colors recommended by CIE and white)were set as target colors.24observerswith normal color vision were conducted to carry out a color matching experiment.720 sets of data were collected.Based on collected data:1)Calculate theΔ(u',v')between the matching and target colors to study the effect of the peak wavelength position of primary color spectrum on the color matching accuracy of the observer.2)Take the inverse covariance matrix parameters of u'and v'to construct the observer chromaticity ellipse, and use the size(S)of the ellipse to study the influence of peak wavelength position of primary color spectrum of the display on the observer variation.3)Test the performance of the CIE color matching function. The results indicated that CIE1964 and CIE2006 calculation results were similar. The primary color spectrum of the display had impact on observer's color matching results(observer matching accuracy, observer variability). The influence of the peak wavelength position of the R、G、B channel on the color matching result is B>G>R.The results can provide suggestions for an optimized combination of primary color spectra of display for improving the accuracy of color matching and weakening observer variability.
