As an informational and intelligent society is coming,broadband services are expanding on a large scale,new business demands are constantly emerging,and users are placing higher demands on the capacity and quality of information networks.Passive Optical Network(PON)has become the most widely used terminal access method due to its high bandwidth and low cost.Optical distribution network(ODN)has complex structure and is very cost-sensitive.In order to protect the network system and enable a stable and reliable operation,a high-performance network link monitoring system is required.In this paper,the remote coding link monitoring is deeply studied including the related research on the monitoring signal analysis,data processing and link fault recognition algorithm.First,this paper reviews the research of recent network link monitoring and current applications.Then,based on the remote coding PON link monitoring system,the morphological characteristics of the received signal together with the power loss and signal noise are analyzed.After that,the related software work such as system data processing and link fault recognition algorithm is introduced in detail,and a series of engineering problems are solved,including extraction and recovery of received parallel signals,efficient recognition of link faults,differentiation of equidistant users,etc.In addition,the user interface and TCP/IP communication interface are designed so that the link monitoring result is fed back to the ODN network management system on time.Finally,the performance of the system-related modules was tested,and the functions of data processing,link fault recognition,network communication were tested.The joint test with the ODN network management system was made.The results show that the remote coding PON link monitoring system can achieve centralized,low-cost and realtime monitoring of the ODN network,and the expected goals can be made.
