With the popularization of wireless communication network technology and the rise of new technologies such as AI,VR,Internet of Things,big data,quantum computers,etc.,a variety of network access technologies with different standards(such as Wi-Fi,LTE,Bluetooth,2G / 3G / 4G / 5G cellular network)is used in various mobile devices.The ubiquitous multi-network access technology enables multi-homed terminals to have the ability to repeatedly and efficiently use bandwidth resources and improve bandwidth aggregation.Thereby mobile terminals can more intelligently adapting to increasingly complex networks.In order to alleviate the shortage of bandwidth resources,the Internet Engineering Task Force(IETF)proposed the MultiPath Transmission Control Protocol(MPTCP).This protocol allows multiple subchannels to be established in an MPTCP link.Compared with the traditional transmission control protocol(TCP)that adheres to a single path,TCP causes significant waste of resources,and it is also difficult to meet the increasing bandwidth requirements of the majority of users.With the popularity of multi-homed terminals and the continuous deepening of applications,network connections have shown exponential growth.The rigid requirements of users for low-latency waiting and good experience are increasing.For multi-path transmission services,high bandwidth,low latency,and good path are still important issues which need to be resolved.Regarding the shortcomings of the current multi-path TCP management status,based on the standard MPTCP protocol,combined with coding technology and cross-layer auxiliary methods,this paper proposes two multi-path TCP path management methods.1.In order to eliminate the additional expenses brought by indifferent coding technology,this paper proposes a selective network coding path management method(MPTCP-SNC).Unlike existing coding schemes,MPTCP-SNC takes full account of the differences in heterogeneous wireless network environments.By establishing a packet loss prediction model,it analyzes the quality of the current link and selectively performs coding,thereby reducing the extra consumption by coding and improving the transmission performance of MPTCP.2.Considering the advantages brought by the cross layer activities of receiver,a cross layer path management method based on receiver intelligence(MPTCP-RC)is proposed.MPTCP-RC consists of two modules: The cross-layer engine detects the protocol parameters of the transport layer and MAC layer of each path,and calculates the path quality based on the receiver's "first-hand knowledge" obtained from the detection parameters.;The path using manager effectively distinguishes the quality of the path according to the current state,self-adaptive management and multiple paths connected with MPTCP.The experimental results show that the two methods proposed in this paper have obvious advantages in the path management of multi-path TCP,which can effectively improve the transmission performance of the entire network and provide useful ideas for the further development of the multi-path TCP path management mechanism.
