Image Analysis Of The Marginal Groups In "The Livings" From The Discourse Analysis Perspective

The concept of "marginal people" has developed from the West.At present,most of the definitions of marginal groups in China's academia refer to Western theories,and then define marginal groups in combination with China's specific social issues.Marginal theory originated from the study of sociology.With the development of society,social problems have gradually become more and more complicated.Marginal groups have gradually been paid attention to by other disciplines such as criminology,management,social psychology,and education.This paper takes marginal groups as the research object,and takes the non-fiction writing platform "The Livings " as a sample of articles describing the marginal groups for three years from August 8,2016 to August 8,2019,based on the theory of Systemic Functional Linguistics.To explore the social significance and possible social role of "The Livings' " works in constructing the image of marginalized groups.Through the analysis of the ideational function,interpersonal function and textual function of the title and body of the article,it is found that the title and the article mostly determine the character description of the article through clauses that represent the material process and the radial thematic progression mode with the personal pronoun as the main theme.The title indicates that the material process,the relational process clause and the marked theme present and highlight the complexity and particularity of the identity of the marginal group,life experience and social relations.The various tones of the dialogue in the text,such as interrogative,imperative,and exclamatory tone,have further completely shaped the psychological,character and emotional characteristics of marginalized groups.From the overall point of view of the article,a large number of declarative mood clauses give the article an objective telling effect,making the image characteristics of marginalized groups more distinct and enhancing credibility.Secondly,theinterrogative tones clause in the title of the article imply the author's feelings of sympathy and worry for marginal groups.On the other hand,a large number of emotional resource clauses in the text are also the embodiments of the emotional attitude of these works to marginal groups,so it can be seen that the construction of the images of marginal groups by these works is a fusion of subjectivity and objectivity.In conclusion,the three discourse functions of the title and the text are interrelated and complement each other,and jointly construct the media image of marginal groups.In the past,the marginal group in people's impression was a group that harmed society and had a great negative impact on society.Through an in-depth analysis of the construction text of the image of marginal groups in "The Livings ",this article finds that marginal groups often have unspeakable experiences and hardships,and their psychology is extremely fragile,lonely and sensitive.The detailed description and construction of the image of marginal groups in these works is a microscopic supplement to the social picture,which implies a certain social significance.The research believes that the image of marginal groups of non-fiction works can weaken the barrier between the public and marginal groups to a certain extent,help to reduce the stereotype of marginal groups,enhance social inclusion of marginal groups,and ease this group The original alienation of indifferent relations with other social classes has a positive effect on improving the social relations of marginalized groups.
