The simulation of radar cross section (RCS) is the main method to analyze the electromagnetic scattering characteristics of targets,and it is also an important research content in the field of electromagnetic engineering.For the accurate and fast simulation of the RCS of the electrically large complex target,the springing ray method (SBR) in the high frequency approximation method is an effective analysis method.However,with the size of the target becoming larger and the complexity of the target containing coating or medium,the calculation efficiency of SBR is relatively low.Therefore,the research on the fast algorithm is of great significance.In this paper,the fast algorithm based on SBR is studied to improve the calculation efficiency of traditional SBR.At the same time,the application range of SBR is extended for the SBR algorithm with mixed dielectric and metal targets.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) In this paper,the realization process of the bouncing ray method is discussed in detail.The main reason that affects the calculation efficiency of the bouncing ray method is that the calculation amount of the intersection detection between the ray and the plane element is huge.(2) Compared with the concept of ray tracing in computer graphics,this paper introduces the construction method of KD tree data structure in detail,and puts forward a fast algorithm of SBR based on KD tree,which greatly reduces the calculation amount of ray intersection detection in plane element.The comparison between the calculation results and commercial software FEKO shows that the improved SBR algorithm improves the operation efficiency.(3) In this paper,the theory of ray propagation in media is studied,and the algorithm of bouncing ray method is realized in the media metal combination target.The calculation results verify the correctness of the algorithm and expand the application scope of SBR algorithm.In this paper,the fast calculation method of electrically large complex targets is proposed,which can accelerate the calculation efficiency of SBR algorithm and shorten the calculation time while ensuring the calculation accuracy.It is also applied to RCS calculation of metal coated materials and dielectric metal mixed targets.
