The eye acts as one of the organs of the body and plays a very important role.About 80% of the information in the brain is obtained by the eyes.With the rapid development of computer vision technology,the relationship between eyes and line of sight has attracted the attention of researchers,so the gaze estimation technology has gradually become a research direction of great concern.Gaze estimation technology is widely used in human computer interaction,human behavior studies,virtual reality,fatigue driving detection,eye disease diagnosis and marketing and advertising research.This paper mainly studies the aspherical eyeball model.Firstly,a gaze estimation simulation framework is studied.Then,a gaze estimation method based on the aspherical eyeball model is proposed.Firstly,this paper studies the software framework system of the simulated eye tracker proposed by a German research institute in detail.The framework mainly establishes the eyeball model,the light source model and the camera model,and generates some feature points.The feature points such as the reflected spot and the pupil center are then used to calculate the point of gaze.However,the framework assumes that the cornea is a perfect sphere when establishing the eyeball model,and the cornea of the human eye is not spherical.In order to be closer to the shape of the human cornea,the eyeball model in the frame is modified to an aspherical-based eyeball model and left and right eye models are created.At the same time,the methods of generating simulation data are modified.The correctness of the feature point data generated by the improved framework is verified by some properties of the aspheric surface and some mathematical theorems.Secondly,this paper proposes a gaze estimation method based on aspherical threedimensional eyeball model.In the 3d eye model,the cornea should be modeled accurately and the reflection and refraction of the incident light on the cornea surface is used to solve the cornea curvature center and pupil of the eye by establishing a geometric model of cornea reflection and refraction.By using the center of cornea curvature and the center of pupil to reconstruct the optical axis of eye,and then according to the relationship between the human visual axis and optical axis to reconstruct the visual axis of eye.In the spherical model,the normal line through a point on the surface of the cornea will pass the center of the cornea,and the optical axis of eye could be reconstructed by a plurality of planes intersecting the optical axis.However,the human cornea is not a perfect sphere,more like a part of an ellipsoid.In order to be closer to the human eye,a quadric surface is used to fit the cornea of the human eye.Some properties of the quadric surface and the reflection of light are used to reconstruct the optical axis and the visual axis,and the point of gaze is solved.Then,the experiment results using simulation framework prove the feasibility of the proposed gaze estimation algorithm.
