Today human beings face the explosion of information and culture.The ever-changing development of science and technology has brought humanity into a new era.In the face of the increasingly complex communication environment,museum exhibition design must abolish tedious narrative exhibitions;it needs to better integrate modern technology and elements to enhance the storytelling,engagement and interactivity of the exhibition.Only in this way can the exhibitions reach the heart of people,so that they will better achieve the goals of publicity and cultural dissemination.The author has found that some of the"micro" elements in museum display design,which are concise,easy to communicate,and changeable in form,play a vital role in the exhibition,making the overall style more elegant and the transmission of exhibition content more effective.This study started with reviewing the current status of exhibition design at home and abroad.Taking Nanjing Museum as an example,this study focused on selected classic exhibition cases over the years for detailed analysis and examined those representative exhibitions at different stages of development.Furthermore,this study discussed the evolving application forms of "micro" elements in exhibition design as well as new methods and features applied.It also investigated the changing patterns of exhibition design in visual communication,content and audience levels.In addition,this study looked at the influence of applying "micro" elements on the promotion of museum exhibitions by analyzing the data such as the application ratio of "micro" elements and the audience visit rate.Finally,this article put forward its own views on possible issues in the future exhibition designs and exploredpractical design principles and methods based on relevant theories.
