With the rapid development of mobile Internet,Internet of Things,e-commerce and social media,we have entered the era of big data.The scientific community and other communities have all felt the tremendous impact of massive data.Data-intensive science is the fourth paradigm of scientific research based on big data.Compared with the traditional paradigm of experimental science,theoretical science and computational science,the fourth paradigm has more prominent data infrastructure and tools in scientific research.Studying the new paradigm can better achieve the management and analysis of large-scale,high-dimension,and diversified data,and effectively respond to the challenges of big data.This article starts with the data-intensive scientific operating mechanism and begins an in-depth analysis of data-intensive science,attempting to improving the efficiency of scientific research innovation in the era of big data,fully tapping the intrinsic value of big data,and on this basis,to create universal data research.tools inspired to support data collection,verification,management analysis and long-term preservation.This article is mainly carried out in four parts: The first part defines the definition of data-intensive science and distinguishes it from related concepts(big data,data science);compared with three traditional paradigms(experimental science,theoretical science,and computational science)to highlight the features of data-intensive science;in addition,it analyzes the challenges faced by data-intensive scientific research from the data level and the scientific level.The second part traces the origins of data-intensive science from the point of view of history,from the study of early symbolic data to the foundation of statistical development theory and methods,to the presentation of data-intensive science,and to the future expand.The third part is based on the concrete case of data-intensive scientific application and has been analyzed and evaluated.The fourth part first analyzes the process of data-intensive scientific research,that is,data collection,management,and analysis,and then analyzes the data-intensive science from the perspective of the operating mechanism,and interprets it as three aspects.Generation,mainly from thedevelopment of technology analysis of data-intensive science of power generation;(2)Knowledge discovery,propose corresponding measures to better extract information from the data to knowledge discovery;(3)social collaboration,analysis of data-intensive scientific operation The various social synergies.
