Emergency Response Service(ERS) system is a type of calculation software developed by China Classification Society(CCS)to provide technical supportin an emergency conditionfor ships of which the emergency response database containing information of stability and structural strength has been established. For any one of those ships in an emergency condition, CCS will convene ERS experts upon the owner's request and the system will be actuated to analyzebased on the ship's data in the ERS database, calculate the damage stability, damage strength and oil spillage and to givesuggestions for emergency management.ERS is one of importantengineering calculation software developed by CCS.To dealing with multi-source of data and disunified data description indataintentive computing system as ERS, we propose a design and application based on separated moduals and multi-layer design. The main function modules include the emergency stability module, emergency structure module, loading calculation module, compartment capacity and liquid heeling moment calculation module, input of geometry module, interactive control module, graphic model module, the local graph and tree structure module, data access module, data conversion module, and resultmodule. Three-layer architecture means the whole business is divided into three layersof UI, BLL and DAL from top to bottom. In the development of ERS system, Power Designer is used to establish the model of system database.The common data of ships such as length of ship, type of ship, frame has been set up for each module to share and utilize so as to ensure the integrity and validity of ship data, Meanwhile the data sharing among modules, such as the frame information of transverse section of structure and Bonjeancurvecalculation of performance, enables avoiding repetition of inputting the same data. Proper use of third-party class librariesincrease the development efficiency and guarantee the software quality.The research reinforces the data consistent in ERS byemploying a data bus and implementing a universal data process mechanism. The successful development of ERS system has enabled the centralized and unified management of ship data, strengthened the data uniformity and realized the data sharing with COMPASS. The experimental results show that ERS provide technical support for rescuing the ship in distress and assist the ship owner, master and on-site rescue unit to make the final decision?...
