In the information age,Media is an important social construction mechanism that shapes the public's Subjective Well-being.Based on the national sample survey data of the 2015 China Social Survey, this study used logistic regression analysis of ordered dependent variables to examine the direct and indirect effects of Media-use on Subjective Well-being.The study found:(1)The long-term media use has a subtle cumulative effect on Subjective Well-being.The higher the public's frequency of media exposure to a certain type of media, the more positive the cumulative effect of Subjective Well-being.However,traditional media such as television, radio, and newspapers have a more cumulative effect on the subjective well-being of the public than emerging media such as the Internet and mobile phone.(2)Media's information contact is an important social mechanism for the public to construct government quality assessment. The long-term exposure and use of media will shape positive government quality perception.Television is still the dominant force shaping the positive quality perception of the government. The positive effects of mobile phone and newspapers on improving Perceived Quality of Government are relatively limited. The Internet and broadcasting use have not shown influence on Perceived Quality of Government.(3)The government is an important social source for the formation of public's Subjective Well-being.The higher Perceived Quality of Government, the more significant the public's Subjective Well-being.(4)The influence of media use on the subtle influence of Subjective Well-being is essentially a complex process in which media information contacts participate in public's cognitive construction.(5)The distribution of Subjective Well-being presents significant hierarchical differences. In comparison, women, members of the Communist Party, heterosexual couples, rural areas, central and western regions, higher education, and older have higher Subjective Well-being.Based on the theory of Uses and Gratifications, this paper empirically tests the positive cumulative effect of public media use on Subjective Well-being.At the same time,it was found that the use of different media by the public has a different effect onSubjective Well-being.On this basis, this study cuts through Cultivation Theory, and for the first time examines the effect of media use on Perceived Quality of Government. However, this promotion effect is relatively limited. This shows that the government's own administrative performance is still an important basis for the media to construct the Perceived Quality of Government. This study also has new findings different from previous studies.TV plays a leading role in the acculturation of public perceptions such as quality perception and Subjective Well-being,and Internet use does not effectively promote public's Perceived Quality of Government. The influence on subjective well-being is also relatively weak. Therefore, for a long period of time, relying on the TV media to carry out positive reports on government work is still an important way to improve Perceived Quality of Government and enhance Subjective Well-being.In general, the positive interaction between the public, the media and the government can effectively enhance the public's Subjective Well-being.The public's use of the media can not only directly accumulate Subjective Well-being,but also improve the Subjective Well-being of the public by improving Perceived Quality of Government.
