In order to cope with the competition of the World Interoperablility Microwave Access standards and the deep integration of mobile communication and broadband wireless connection,the 3rd Generation Partnership Project organization began research on Long Term Evolution(LTE)technology.High peak rate,high user throughput and other advantages make LTE applications have been used in various fields,it includes the application areas of dedicated small base stations to be studied in this thesis.This thesis mainly studies and implements the core control signaling processing unit Mobility Management Entity(MME)in the Evolved Packet Core(EPC).The main features of EPC include separation of control and bearer services,removing of Radio Network Controller(RNC)nodes to flatten of network structures,etc.The Evolved Packet System(EPS)distributes the process responsible for the RNC node to the Evovled Node B(eNodeB)and the Serving GateWay(S-GW).In the EPS system,the MME mainly performs identity information confirmation and authentication when the user accesses the network;mobility management;bearer context management;processing of an access request of a user equipment(User Equipment,UE),and the like.This thesis firstly introduces the EPS network architecture and the main interfaces in the EPC network.After designing the overall architecture of the MME according to the requirements analysis of the MME software entity,the MME-related interfaces and their application layer protocols are further studied and analyzed.Then the signaling process related to the MME is designed and implemented.Then the signaling process related to the MME is designed and implemented.The main processes include attach and detach,activation,modification,and release of dedicated bearers,paging of UEs in idle state,and handovers that do not involve S-GW relocation.After the analysis and implementation of the main signaling process of the MME is completed,the functional test and performance test of the MME are performed by setting up the EPS network test environment.The test results show that the MME software entity has completed the main functions in the technical specification and has good execution efficiency and stability.
