Design And Implementation Of A Paperless Touch Multimedia Meeting System

Traditional meeting mode has several disadvantages,such as excessive paper usage,huge human cost and high risk of leaking confidential information.All of those negative aspects lead to the development of paperless meeting system.But tremendous types of paperless products sold in the market now have some problems,mainly existing in inflexible system management,bad user experience,lack of security protection and no interaction functions.Therefore,a Paperless Touch Multimedia Meeting System is designed and developed in this thesis.This new system is developed in.NET platform and runs in the Windows embedded operating system based on the paperless theory.It also adopts the usage of embedded set-top box and multi-touch display devices.This system includes 6 major functions including user management,room management,terminal management,meeting management,document management and resource management.This new system has many advantages comparing with other paperless meeting systems,such as more flexible system management,better user experience,higher security protection and abundant meeting interaction functions.The research mainly focused on the solution of following problems in this system's design and implementation process:1)Unified communication interface: According to the lots of communication nodes and frequent data exchange in this system,a unified communication interface has been designed,which not only can ensure the real-time of communication,but also build a good expansibility to add new functions easily in the future.2)Optimization of data processing: This system needs to process numerous data,if it can't complete the data distribution and access in time,the communication will be stuck and data will be abnormal,which will impact this system's reliability and availability.So this system optimized the data processing.This system integrates the user requirements in all meeting phases including pre-meeting preparation,in-meeting control,post-meeting archiving.It uses WPF and ASP.NET to display user interface,and establishes network communication mechanism via WCF technology.This system releases the users from a mass of meeting paper materials and also improved the meeting attendees' communication efficiency.The workload of the meeting staffs is reduced via using this system,also a real self-service meeting management is realized together with the benefits of paper and human cost saving and an increased meeting quality.This system has been already published and deployed successfully in several projects.The implementation of this system helps the customer to reduce the meeting cost,optimize meeting management,improve the meeting quality,save lots of time and human cost,and enhance the meeting security and the meeting attendees' experience.
