Techniques for generating microwave waveform such as square,triangle waveform are important for applications in radar,measurement,instrument technology,medical imaging etc.Usually,high quality microwave waveform is preferred as it largely determines the performance of the microwave system.In recent years,photonic microwave generation has attracted great interests from both the research community and commercial sector all over the world,as it has the advantage of high frequency and large bandwidth.A variety of techniques for generation of arbitrary waveforms have been demonstrated.In this paper,we focus on the study of microwave photon technology to produce microwave waveform,which aims to propose and verify the new microwave waveform generation scheme.First of all,the key technologies and optical devices used to produce microwave waveforms at home and abroad are studied and analyzed,on this basis,a approach of photonic microwave waveform generation based on polarization delay interference and a approach of photonic microwave waveform generation based on double modulator are proposed and experimentally demonstrated.In this paper,a new approach of photonic microwave waveform generation based on polarization delay interference and a new approach of photonic microwave waveform generation based on the dual modulator are proposed,which have certain theoretical research value and practical application prospect.In the first scheme,the device is used less,and the cost is greatly reduced.Experimentally,square and triangular waveform with a repetition rate of 5 GHz is generated,which is consistent with theoretical analysis.The scheme of generating microwave waveform with double modulator,this scheme has increased the use of laser and modulator,but increased the type of waveform.The two schemes have good stability and easy tuning,and have certain application value.
