With the wide application of optical communication technology in the field of communication,optical cable,as a major component of optical communication lines,has become more and more important in the communication industry,and the quality of optical cables has received more and more attention.However,in the production process of optical cable,due to factors such as surface materials,production process,and producer level,there are always some defects on the surface of the cable.Common defects include: small holes,bulges,air bubbles,scratches,and the like.These defects not only affect the aesthetics of the cable surface,but also cause the degradation of its mechanical properties,and even reflect the problems in the production process.Therefore,the detection of surface defects of the cable is particularly important.In China,the detection of surface defects of optical cables mainly relies on labor,the detection efficiency is low,the detection standards are unstable,and the detection accuracy is difficult to meet the production requirements.Foreign equipment and technology are expensive and have high maintenance costs.On the other hand,they cannot obtain independent intellectual property rights.Therefore,it is a current research topic to study the technology of effectively and accurately detecting the surface defects of optical cables and apply them to industrial production practice.In this thesis,the optical cable is used as the research object,and the related research techniques such as image processing are used to complete the research of this subject.(1)In-depth study and analysis of the edge detection operators commonly used in image processing,and apply these operators to the current scene,based on the edge detection results of the cable images of each operator,compare the advantages and disadvantages and analyze.The traditional Canny operator has been optimized to make it more suitable for edge detection and area extraction of cable images.(2)Aiming at the problem that the texture existing on the surface of the cable affects the segmentation result,the common image segmentation algorithms are studied and analyzed.The experimental verification and analysis of these algorithms are carried out,and the appropriate segmentation algorithm is found for the cable image to realize the segmentation.(3)Aiming at the problem of threshold selection in defect segmentation,the common threshold selection methods are studied and analyzed,and the appropriate threshold is found for the image of optical cable to achieve defect segmentation.The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper can identify surface defects more effectively and improve product quality.
