With the rapid development of Internet applications,existing wireless communication systems are difficult to meet the needs of high-rate transmission services.A terahertz wave is an electromagnetic wave that has not been allocated for use and has a frequency range of 100 GHz to 10 THz.Due to the high terahertz frequency,a transmission rate of 10 Gbps can be supported.Therefore,terahertz communication can meet the ever-increasing data transmission needs.Due to the special frequency band position,terahertz has the physical characteristics of millimeter wave and infrared light wave,which is mainly reflected in the serious atmospheric attenuation,narrow beam and strong penetrability.Therefore,terahertz waves are more suitable for high speed transmission at close range,such as data transmission scenarios applied to wireless personal area networks.At present,the research on terahertz wireless personal area network mainly focuses on the MAC protocol,and mainly based on the IEEE 802.15.3c protocol,so this thesis also improves on this protocol,making it suitable for terahertz wireless personal area network.This thesis first introduces terahertz wave and terahertz wireless communication,and summarizes the problems encountered in the existing terahertz communication research process.Based on terahertz wireless communication,the terahertz wireless personal area network and its network architecture are introduced,which will provide theoretical basis for the research of directional MAC protocol for terahertz wireless personal area network.Then the specific problems of applying IEEE802.15.3c protocol in terahertz wireless personal area network are analyzed: beamforming takes more time,time slot information redundancy in Beacon frame and block acknowledgment field redundancy.A fast and efficient terahertz wireless personal area networks directional MAC protocol(FED-MAC)is proposed to solve the problem.The FED-MAC protocol includes three new mechanisms: fast beamforming,adaptive shortening of Beacon frame length,and adaptive block acknowledgment.The proposed three new mechanisms reduce the control overhead and transmission delay and improve the network throughput without affecting the original protocol function.Then the IEEE802.15.3c protocol and the FED-MAC protocol are then implemented on the FPGA platform using the VHDL language.Simulate the function of the protocol using Modelsim simulation software,and then download the generated protocol file to thedevelopment board for actual performance testing.The analysis of the data obtained by the test shows that compared with the IEEE802.15.3c protocol,the FED-MAC protocol has improved performance in terms of throughput,delay and packet loss rate.Finally,the work done in this thesis is summarized,and the research direction of the future terahertz wireless personal area network directional MAC protocol in theoretical research and engineering application is pointed out.
