Video interface VGA(Video Graphics Array)was first proposed by IBM in 1987.It now becomes the standard video interface of PC(Personal Computer)after nearly 30 years development.Also the VGA signal is analog signal,but it still can support the HD video up to 1080 p well.It is simple,cheap,and flexible which make it the most popular video interface.VGA matrix is widely used in many territories,such as video monitor,video conference,projector device,computer room,etc.For company computer room usage,VGA matrix makes the management easy,save the cost of human resource.Because it makes the administrator could monitor the service machine any time and any place by connecting to the service through the internet.For monitor center of living cell or industry area usage,we can monitor the surroundings by getting camera data real time.Traditional VGA matrix was designed by using microcontroller unit as the core controller.It directly implements the analog switch by using the special VGA matrix IC.Because the analog signal could not stand the interference,the traditional VGA matrix has the transfer distance limitation and wiring complexity defects.In order to increase the capacity of the VGA matrix and also conquer the wiring issues,next generation of VGA matrix need to meet the easy wiring,easy configure,good expansibility,centralized management,multiple users and HD support features.This article will introduce the design and implement of a common digital VGA matrix module,which will easily change the traditional analog VGA matrix to a completely digital VGA matrix.This new generated digital VGA matrix product support HD video and have the low bandwidth occupy and code rate adaptable features.The article also will discuss the technical difficulties and the solutions,including the analog signal digital,video stream transfer on internet and video encryption.Besides,it also implements the matrix port management,multiple user,user identity verify and management.Final test result shows that the product could adjust the different network environment by changing the video code bit rate very well.Compare to the products on sells in market,we get rid of the hardware solution by designing FPGA to encode video stream.On the contrary,we use the common IC to implement the requirement,which extremely save the R&D and produce cost.The comparison test shows that our product support higher resolution ration,occupied lower bandwidth of network and save more cost of hardware.After the project,company's products take a leading position in local market.
