With the development of Internet technology,large amount of bulky data is brought to the network by big data applications.Bulky data consumes large resources of the network links,and the network performance is weakened as a result.Generally,much of the bulky data are delay-insensitive,and thus Store-and-Forward(SnF)is introduced to the optical circuit switching(OCS)network.Assistive storage installed at the nodes of network can store some data requests ought to be blocked due to the links' congestion,and thus improves the network performance.In this thesis we mainly discusses the performance of optical network with SnF.Studying model is established and used,and then requests' detouring problem in Edge Storage(ES)and nodes' storage usage problem in Intermediate Storage(IS)are studied and analyzed.In ES model,we found that unexpected request detours when assistive storage is available at network nodes in some cases,and thus the network performance gets worse.In order to enhance the positive effects of assistive storage and improve the network performance,we proposed two optimizing routing methods and verify their effectiveness in reducing the requests' detouring and requests' blocking probability.Besides,in ES model,we considered the cases that network with edge storage contains both delay-sensitive and delay-insensitive requests.The delay-sensitive requests' performance is terrible when we use the initial adaptive routing method,and the 2nd optimizing routing method improves the network performance and fairness a lot.Intermediate storage has higher routing flexibility and complexity.By using a routing framework named Time Shifted Multi-Layer Graph(TSMLG),we studied the storage usage of network nodes in intermediate storage.In order to measure the use of storage,we propose a statistic named Occupation,and indicate that Occupation lacks of balance among nodes by simulation and analysis.We also indicate the varying of Occupation with traffic load and the wavelengths on a link.Our research provides valuable reference to the storage planning in networks between data centers.
