As an important technology of modern communication,power line communication is widely distributed and relatively inexpensive.It can be used in special scenarios or in remote areas where there are no other network signal coverage.Compared with other communication methods,it has unique advantages.Low voltage power line communication technology has been applied in many fields,including power information collection,smart home management,building surveillance and street lamp control,which undoubtedly plays a positive role in promoting the development of power system automation technology and improving the overall economic benefits of society.The main work of this paper is as follows:Firstly,the characteristics of low voltage power line communication are analyzed,including signal attenuation,input impedance,multipath transmission and noise,etc.Secondly,low voltage power line communication channel models are studied,specifically,effects of the presence of branches,power line length and branch length on transmission function are simulated.The channel capacity of low voltage power line is also analyzed.Results show that when the power line has branches the channel capacity decreases significantly.The presence of branches increases the reflection path and reduces the channel capacity.Thirdly,the transmission characteristics of low voltage power line communication are studied.Simulation results show that when the impedances of transmitter and receiver are equal,the forward and reverse transmission functions of power line communication channel are identical,this means that the characteristic of power line network is symmetrical;when the impedance of transmitter is less than that of receiver,the forward transmission attenuation of power line communication channel is less than that of reverse transmission attenuation.In this paper,the power line communication channel modeling and characteristics are studied in detail,which provide reference for the future power line channel modeling and simulation design.
