Passive Optical Networks(PONs)technology has been widely used in Access Networks due to its advantages of high bandwidth, low maintenance cost, and low energy consumption in recent years. With the explosive growth of high-traffic Internet services such as live broadcasting, video conferencing, and telemedicine,PONs bandwidth is consumed in large quantities. How to ensure fairness between these services in bandwidth allocation and improve multicast transmission efficiency have become a key issue.Additionally, the paper considers the cost of energy consumption caused by large-scale network deployment, the green energy-saving technology also is the main research content of this paper. On the basis of fully understanding users'requirements and technical difficulties of power fiber-to-the-home network, this paper proposes a bandwidth resource allocation strategy and energy-saving scheme oriented to power fiber to the home network, and simulation verification of the proposed scheme. In terms of multicast-services scenario,Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Optical Network(TDM-WDM PON)architecture is considered a cost-effective solution. This paper proposes an adaptive multicast bandwidth allocation scheme, aiming to maximize the multicast efficiency by allocating the appropriate bandwidth resources.Based on the existing TDM-WDM PON architecture,large-scale changes are not required. The scheme uses a heuristic algorithm to assign highly correlated Optical Network Unit(ONU)to the same wavelength, and guarantees fairness between multicast sessions based on the bandwidth and the dynamic number of multicast group members. The simulation results show that the scheme can reduce the total bandwidth utilization by about 8%-15%when the normalized traffic load range is 0.5 to 1 and increase the total effective multicast throughput by 9%averagely at the cost of almost the same delay, compared with the scheme of the references. The ONU will cause a great waste of energy when it is frequently turned off and turned on.This paper proposes an improved hybrid sleep for multicast energy-saving scheme of ONU in order to reduce the energy consumption of ONU.The number of ONU wake-ups is reduced and energy-saving effects are achieved by adding the ONU sleep-wakeup energy-consumption constraint and scheduling similar unicast and multicast packets as much as possible when the downstream traffic includes both unicast and multicast services. The simulation results show that the scheme can reduce the average number of wake-ups by 30-40%compared with the methods in the reference, thereby improving energy-saving efficiency.Although the energy-consumption constraint is added to the scheme and the number of ONU wake-ups is reduced, the delay performance of the data packet is not affected.
