With the development of cellular network technology,heterogeneous cellular network will be an important development trend of mobile access network in the future.Heterogeneous cellular networks can achieve hot spot access,seamless coverage and broadband access.However,large-scale heterogeneous cellular deployment brings enormous bandwidth pressure to optical fronthaul networks.For this reason,the introduction of passive wavelength division is an important fronthaul solution for large capacity broadband access,but the deployment of large-scale micro-cell and fronthaul optical devices in heterogeneous cellular networks leads to serious energy consumption problems.Therefore,this paper proposes a fronthaul networking architecture for heterogeneous cellular access network.Based on the fronthaul networking architecture,further research on network energy consumption optimization is carried out.The main work and innovations are as follows:(1)Energy consumption optimization in cellular heterogeneous networks.For the deployment of large-scale micro-cell,this paper proposes a fronthaul optical network scheme based on passive wavelength division multiplexing(WDM)technology in heterogeneous cellular networks.On this basis,energy consumption models of wireless fronthaul access are established,including base station energy consumption model,fronthaul optical network energy consumption model and baseband processing pool energy consumption model.Based on the network architecture and energy consumption model,an integer linear programming model is established to optimize energy consumption,and a threshold-based heuristic algorithm is proposed for the network.The simulation results show that the proposed heuristic algorithm reduces energy consumption by 7%?18%,and the influence of function split options,the number of adj acent base station and the optical module rate on the energy consumption of the access network is analyzed.(2)The intelligent fronthaul control plane for energy consumption optimization.In view of the complexity and diversity of network structure and business types,the difficulty of network management and control has been greatly increased.Therefore,this paper designs and implements an experimental platform for energy consumption optimization of passive WDM fronthaul networking for cellular heterogeneous networks.The platfonn is based on software-defined network technology,OpenDayLight project and OpenFlow protocol extension.This paper focuses on the management and control decision module of OpenDayLight project and the development related to OpenFlow protocol,and extends the OpenFlow protocol to meet the needs of this study.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can optimize the network energy consumption.
