With the rapid development of mobile communication networks,more and more economic and social activities are based on mobile communication networks.While mobile communication networks bring convenience to people's lives,attacks against mobile communications are becoming more frequent,and mobile communication security is facing increasing threats.Fake Base Station(FBS hereafter)is one of the common types of attacks.At present,although the technology for detecting FBS has been widely studied,current forensics of FBS still has certain limitations,and it is difficult to effectively quantify the extent of injury of FBS for reasonable measurement of penalty.Therefore,it is necessary to explore an effective forensics method to prevent FBS attack.This paper first introduced the research background and research significance,as well as reviewed the domestic and international researches on the FBS,summarized the existing FBS defense work,and demonstrated the necessity of FBS forensics.The basic principle of GSM communication and the attack principle of FBS were also studied.A set of simulated FBS attack experimental platform was set up by software radio platform.The sniffing attack and short message attack of FBS were verified,and a new type of FBS attack for account chain attack was further supposed,designed and implemented.On the basis of the aforementioned analysis,we established a threat model of FBS attacks and proposed a forensics method based on radio frequency fingerprint.The FBS forensics system was designed in detail,and its signal acquisition,database,signal processing,RF fingerprint generation and RF fingerprint identification are implemented on the high performance embedded software radio platform.To evaluate the performance of the system,we tested the real FBSes obtained from the police and achieve high accuracy in the experiment.In general,we provided an effective solution for the FBS forensics in the paper.
