The Design And Implementation Of A Remote Configuration And Management System For OpenFlow Switches

As the scale of network is ever-expanding,traditional networks become less flexible and more difficult to manage,due to its high coupling.SDN puts forward the idea of separation of control and management,and has been widely used,because its centralized management and programmable advantages.OpenFlow has gained wide application as it is a mainstream SDN southbound communication protocol,therefore OpenFlow switches have also increased dramatically as underlying network devices.It has become a concern that how to configure and manage OpenFlow switches.Therefore,this paper designs and implements a remote configuration management system for OpenFlow switches.The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)Analyzing and comparing the characteristics of various network management protocols,choosing the OF-CONFIG protocol to configure and manage the switch by considering the actual requirements of OpenFlow switch management,designing and implementing the functions of the system.(2)In combination with the idea of automatic configuration,the system can automatically generate configuration files with limited input parameters through the task encapsulation mode,and automatically send configuration commands to the switch device.(3)Using a Web-based system architecture to make it convenient for administrators to remotely log in the system,and configure the switches in a uniform way.The web management interface provides the administrator with an intuitive and easy way to interact operation.(4)Testing and analysing the functions of the system.By setting up a test environment including OpenFlow switches and controllers,and designing test cases,the configuration management system was tested to verify the implementation of each functional module,including configuring logical switches,ports and queues,and connecting swithes and controllers,etc.
