World robotics conference had been held in Beijing,China at 2015.Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a letter to the conference and putted forward the goal of taking great efforts to develop the robot industry.So we can see that the country's attention to the robot industry.Home service robot is a new industrial of the robot industry,and the various functions of the home service robot is gradually on the rise including doing housework,providing entertainment,helping the elderly and disabled and the other.Due to the aging process,China's elderly population is close to 200 million,and the number of persons with disabilities is also close to 100 million.So home service robot has good application prospects.At the same time,it will be of great practical significance to endow the home service robot with human face recognition function.The aim of this paper is to implement a system that can help the robot to recognize the identity of human face by using the present vision algorithm.And help the robot to provide friendly personalized service for the different individuals.Face recognition is a cross subject of computer vision and pattern recognition.In recent years,the rapid development of computer technology has greatly promoted the development of face recognition technology.This paper firstly points out the importance of image preprocessing.Then it will introduce the main methods of face detection and face recognition,and analysis their respective advantages and disadvantages.According to the specific application scenarios of family services,the face detection module uses the method based on Adaboost.This method has the advantages of fast,accurate,robust and so on.At the same time,in order to improve the accuracy of face recognition we need to filter out the face with large angle deflection,a human eye detection algorithm will be embedded in the face detection algorithm.Face recognition will use the method of feature face(EigenFace).The EigenFace method is based on the principal component analysis(PCA)method,which has the advantages of being simple and fast.In this paper,the algorithm of each module part of the face recognition system will be achieved based on the OpenCV visual library.The test results show that the face recognition system that this paper design can meet the real-time and accuracy requirements of the robot for face recognition system.
