Open Stack is a widely used open source project for cloud computing.Learning and reusing the advanced architecture and design of Open Stack,will benefit both the research and development of the satellite gateway system.Open Stack facilitates the allocation and management of cloud computing resources which comprise computing,storage and network service,thus enables the delivery of computing resources on demand and linear scaling of computing architecture.Satellite gateway system connects the terrestrial networks to the satellite networks,in which the high service availability is a key requirement.Merging Openstack and Satellite gateway,could simplify the architecture design of the gateway,reduce the development work and achieve the goal of high availability service.My research plan is to learn the transplantation of Open Stack to our on-hand satellite gateway.With packet traffic optimization and load balancing,the new gateway system is to perform better on service ability than the stand alone satellite gateway.The system resembles an enhanced data pipe model rather than the traditional C/S model.The research on high availability of our system can focus on three levels: Application Service,Open Stack and Bottom Service.We place our focus on Application Service layer.By leveraging of Open SAF protocols,the goal is achieved without big impact on the satellite gateway implementation.When designing an information system,Service Availability is a consideration in reference to system function and performance.In general,to achieve service high availability goal,good architecture,redundancy design,error repair and seamless software updating are all needed to take into account.In Cell architecture,data plane and control plane are separated.It has many advantages,including self-development and redundancy design.Cell supports error detection and repairing.In this thesis the service availability techniques are studied in detail.By combination of Satellite Communication and Open Stack,we have designed a high availability architecture for Satellite gateway.Specially,we use a separated structure of control plane and data plane to design the key component.Based on testing result,the system works as expected to support variety of services such as voices?video and data stream.This architecture meets the need for a new kind of Satellite gateway by improving the abilities of services.
