The purpose of the weak signal detection is extracting useful signal from strong noise background by improving the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).The conventional methods of weak signal detection mostly are mainly concentrated in suppression noise. However,in this process the useful signal may receive interference.Different from conventional methods, the approach of stochastic resonance(SR)utilizes noise rather than remove noise, which take advantage of the characteristics of the nonlinear system transfer part of the noise energy to the weak signal to detect the useful weak signal. So SR is able to detect lower signal-to-noise ratio of the weak signal.Because of characteristics of model simply, fast and real-time detection performance,SR is of great important applications in weak signal detection. In this paper,we explore SR for weak signal detection in nonlinear mono-stable system under multiplicative and additive ? stable noise background. The main contents include:(1)First the basic theory of the SR is expounded, the knowledge of a stable noise is introduced, and the model of the SR is briefly analyzed.(2)We consider the SR for a bias mono-stable system and a time-delayed bias mono-stable system, driven by sine period signal and ? stable noise. The numerical simulation study shows that the stochastic resonance exists not only in the bias mono-stable system but also in the time-delayed bias mono-stable system. We explore the effects of the stability index a(0<?? 2)and skewness parameter ?(-1<??1)of ? stable noise, the mono-stable system parameter a,the noise intensity D of the multiplicative a stable noise, the static asymmetry r and the delay time ? on the signal-to-noise ratio gain(SNIR)of the system.(3)The SR for a mono-stable system driven by aperiodic binary signal and a stable noise is considered.Through simulation prove that when the input signal amplitude exceeds the threshold, under certain conditions, aperiodic stochastic resonance phenomenon also exists.Bit Error Rate(BER)expressions are also given in this paper. Then the paper analyzes the relationship between the stability index a and the system output bit error rate, and expounds the system parameters a and asymmetric system r on the effect of the bit error rate.(4)Finally,the article uses cascading system for weak periodic signal and aperiodic binary signal detection.Through simulation illustrates that the cascade stochastic resonance system can improve the detection capability of signal, and that the more series detection ability is stronger. It also offers a new way for signal recovery.
