Rachel Carson is a famous ecologist,author of "Silent Spring","The Sea around Us","The Sea","Under The Sea Wind",among which "Silent Spring" is her classic work.In his book,Carson mainly explains the consciousness of environmental crisis,ecological holism and non-human central idea.The publication of "Silent Spring" has caused a huge response all over the world,and has played an indelible role in the formation of the movement and the thought of human environmental protection.Since its publication in 1962,there have been new editions and reprints all over the world,which have been translated into dozens of languages.China formally introduced this book by Science Publishing House in 1979,and the readers in China came into contact with the original work of the Environmental Protection Movement for the first time.This paper is divided into four parts.Chapter one mainly introduces life of Rachel Carson,the main content and creation background of “Silent Spring” and its worldwide influence.This paper gives a general overview of the author and the research object.Chapter two mainly introduces the specific publication of “Silent Spring” in mainland China.The author divides all the "Silent Spring" editions published from 1979 to present into three stages according to the time of publication and the specific factors such as translator,editor,publishing house,etc.The publication in mainland China has been introduced in a relatively comprehensive way through the induction.From the aspects of editing and publishing,chapter three interprets the various editions of “Silent Spring” since its entry into mainland China.It analyzes how Chinese editors and publishing house translate,popularize and transform “Silent Spring” from four aspects: editorial thought,translator's attitude,creative transformation and binding design.Chapter four analyzes and summarizes the influence and publication of “Silent Spring” in mainland China from two aspects: academic community and audience.These contents will enable readers and other researchers to have a more comprehensive and detailed understanding of the course and effect of its publication in mainland China.The author draws a preliminary conclusion through the study,which contributes to follow-up edition of the publication of "Silent Spring",and provides reference for works of its kind.
