In the past decades,surface plasmon resonance(SPR)sensors have been widely used due to their rapid and accurate detection of various physical,chemical and biological parameters.Therefore,it is of great significance to optimize the performance of SPR sensors.In this thesis,based on the prism-coupled SPR sensor with absentee layer,the influence of the absentee layer on the performance of the SPR sensor is explored in the angle modulation and wavelength modulation,and the method of optimizing SPR sensor performance is obtained.The influence of high-order absentee layer's refractive index and order on the performance of the angle modulated SPR sensor is analyzed theoretically in this thesis.The results indicate that both the sensitivity and the full width at half maximum of SPR sensors decrease with the increasing of the order of absentee layer,and the variation of the figure of merit is related to the refractive index of absentee layer.If the refractive index of the absentee layer is greater than 1.76,the figure of merit of the SPR sensor increases as the order of absentee layer increases.It can be seen that adding high-order absentee layer with high refractive index material can enhance the figure of merit of the SPR sensor.However,the figure of merit of SPR sensor cannot increase indefinitely,but tends asymptotically towards a maximum value.For example,compared to the SPR sensor with first-order absentee layer,the figure of merit of SPR sensor with high-order TiO2(or AlAs)absentee layer is increased by 1.059%(or 2.587%).The influence of absentee layer on the performance of the wavelength modulated SPR sensor is analyzed theoretically in this thesis.The result shows both the sensitivity and the full width at half maximum of SPR sensor decrease with the increasing of the order of absentee layer,however,the figure of merit of SPR sensor is almost unchanged.From this conclusion,it can be seen that wavelength modulated SPR sensor to reduce the full width at half maximum of the sensor and improve the resolution without affecting the figure of merit of the sensor by adding high-order absentee layer.
