With the development of Internet technology,the secure range query technology in wireless sensor networks(WSNs)has drawn more attention from the research community and practical applications.Meanwhile,some characteristics and limitations of WSNs exhibition unique challenges for the secure range query protocol in WSNs.In WSNs,range query operation is the most common type of query operation.It is mainly to query data in a certain range.Range query operation has been widely used in WSNs,but there are still some secure issues.Based on the study and analysis of existing secure range query protocols in WSNs,a new privacy and integrity preserving range query protocol,named Yquery,is proposed in this paper.The main research work of this paper include:For data privacy preserving,Yquery presents a stream encryption mechanism(S EM)by adopting stream cipher to encrypt/decrypt all sensed data such that a storage node can only process issued queries over stored data in the encryption domain.SEM encryption protocol can well protect the privacy of data.For data integrity/completeness,Yquery presents two efficient data structure namely S2L and S2D.The S2L is mainly to perform an XOR operation on a serial number and sensed data to obtain a tag,and then connect the tag with the sensed data to obtain S2L.The S2D data structure is mainly based on S2Land XORs the data and its dimensions.YQuery can effectively verify the integrity of query results by adopting S2L and S2D.Finally,the performance of YQuery is evaluated through simulation experiments.The results show that the YQuery protocol has better energy performance than some existing protocols.
