The digital rubbing technology can make inscription rubbings quickly obtained without touching the tablets,which avoids damaging the original tablets and effectively ensures the quality of rubbings at the same time.The traditional digital inscription rubbings are obtained on the basis of the image processing of the inscriptions,which not only easily damages the details of the inscriptions,but also has high requirements on the natural environment such as the illumination during the collection.Pointing at the deficiency in the traditional digital inscription rubbings that based on images,this paper presents a digital rubbing generation method and optimization method based on three-dimensional model of inscriptions,which effectively improved the quality of the resulting digital rubbings.In this paper,a brief introduction is firstly given on the project background of the digital rubbing and the traditional production of the rubbing;Then it introduces the related techniques of creating digital rubbings of inscriptions,including 3D reconstruction,digital image processing and depth map generation of 3D models,etc.Additionally,the existing methods of creating digital rubbings of inscriptions are briefly described.Then,according to the characteristics of the 3D model of the inscription,a method of generating digital rubbings based on the vertex depth and normal vector of the inscription is proposed.The effect of this method is not very good in inscriptions with large scale.So,I analyzed the characteristics of the depth map of the three-dimensional model of the inscription and proposed a digital rubbing optimization method based on depth map,which effectively improved the quality of the resulting digital rubbings.In the end,the paper introduces the system of creating digital rubbings of inscriptions based on the method proposed in this paper.The method of obtaining depth map of 3D model based on plane fitting proposed in this paper eliminated the personal error in the manual point selection and solved the problem of inefficiency.Besides,the OpenGL is used to accelerate the rendering,which effectively improved the speed of digital topology generation.Overall,using this system can make the process of digitization of cultural relics smoother.
