Application Research On The Method Of Radio Spectrum Usage Evaluation

With the rapid economic development and the continuous improvement of information technology,new radio spectrum technologies and new applications are emerging.Radio technology has penetrated each field of economic,social development,and human life.As a scarce,non-renewable public resource,radio spectrum plays an increasingly important role as a key infrastructure in economic and social development.How to effectively use and manage it and to maximize the economic value and the efficiency of its usage has become an important research topic all over the world.This dissertation is based on the evaluation of radio and television spectrum in Gansu province.In accordance with the status and features of radio technology and radio spectrum in Gansu province,a radio and television spectrum evaluation system is designed.Specifically,the hardware is enhanced by adding horizontal monitoring antennas to broaden the monitoring range,and the software is modified by adding the unknown-signal tracking modules to enhance the consistency of the evaluation system.Then using this evaluation system,we completed the monitoring,analysis and evaluation of the actual use of radio and television spectrum in Gansu province.The evaluation results are as follows:(1)The occupancy rate of the FM radio spectrum in Gansu province is 7.87%,and the frequency band is in an idle state,the actual utilization rate is not high.(2)The occupancy rate of TV channel in Gansu Province is less than 20%,and the utilization rate is extremely low for the I band(meter wave)and III band(decimeter wave).For the occupancy distribution,both digital TV and analog TV are in use,more channels are occupied by analog TV than digital TV,but most channels occupied by analog TV are idle,causing a serious waste of spectrum resource.(3)There is an unknown signal in the radio and television spectrum of Gansu province.The evaluation results measures that the actual usage efficiency of radio and television spectrum in Gansu province along three aspects: airspace,time,and frequency domain.At the same time,by comparing the collected data with the existing database,an unknown signal has been identified.The results prove that this system can comprehensively and effectively evaluate the usage efficiency of radio and television spectrum in Gansu province and so that help the radio management department to monitor the actual usage of the current radio frequencies provided.Therefore,this study provides supportive data and references for radio and television spectrum planning and management in the future.
