The main work of this paper is to study and design several kinds of beam switching antennas working at 2.45GHz.In the current mobile communication system,smart antenna can significantly improve communication performance and system capacity,and usually there are two kinds of methods to implement smart antenna,one of which is the beam switching antenna.The use of beam switching antenna in mobile communication system has its unique advantages:simple structure,low power consumption,high stability,and so on.However,with the rapid development of mobile communication,new requirements are proposed for the design of beam switching antenna,such as miniaturization,narrow beam,low profile,etc.According to the proposed requirements,several kinds of beam switching antennas working at 2.45GHz are designed.The specific research work is as follows:1.Design of new type of three-dimensional structure beam switching antenna.The antenna in this paper is designed based on the working principle of ESPAR antenna.Firstly,the working principle and design method of ESPAR antenna are studied and analyzed,and two kinds of beam switching antennas working at 2.45GHz are designed according to the relevant literature of designing ESPAR antenna.Although two designed antennas is three-dimensional structure,but simple structure,high radiation efficiency(over 80%),in addition the beam width of second antenna is smaller(around 68°),which meets the design requirements of ESPAR antenna.2.Design of Low profile beam switching antenna,in order to reduce the height of antenna,designed two kinds of beam switching antenna.The design of the antenna is still based on the working principle of ESPAR antenna,but they are printed on the dielectric substrate,so the antenna is completely ultrathin planar structure.Two designed antenna is simple structure,miniaturized,low profile and high radiation efficiency(above 86%),in addition the beam width of second antenna is very small(about 60°),which meets the design requirements of ESPAR antenna.
