The smart card technology and biometric schemes have been employed worldwide in E-health related system for rapid and accurate identification and emergency treatment processes.Cloud-based health information system with integrated software solution had adopted the smart card to improve clinical and administrative efficiency, management of health service in order to increase the quality of care in regular and emergency cases. This thesis presents a secure framework for sharing patients' data in emergency cases.Specifically,we intend to improve medical records access in emergency.Secondly,we introduce NFC technology for NFC wristband and NFC enabled mobile device for rapid patient identification.Thirdly,we enhance security in data sharing between associate health providers. The conventional e-health systems require that the person has to carry his or her smart card with him all the time. However, when encounters an emergency, the smart card is not carried by the individual due to the sudden and unpredictable nature of emergency incidence such as accidents, and natural calamities which leave the person without any identity proof.Additionally, smart cards are highly vulnerable to misplacement, theft, loss, forgotten during the emergency occurrence;these circumstances hinder the speeding delivery of emergency medical care to the victims. Therefore, this dissertation presents the secure NFC technology-based emergency system for automatic patient identification and secure immediate data access during emergency healthcare delivery. With this system,a patient can be served at even before arriving to the hospital as wristband can be assigned anywhere the incidence happen. The main contributions for this work are:-1.We designed Android-based application for data access using mobile devices in which a user has an access to data in real time at anywhere.2.We employ NFC technology for automatic identification of a patient.NFC reads and writes the patient information from the wristband which is secured by hash function(sha-256)and assigned specifically for emergency services. The wristband doesn't store any sensitive data only the identifiers assigned by the server are stored to it.3.To enhance security in data sharing between associate hospitals,we utilize a novel integrated Public key infrastructure(PKI)and commitment scheme to secure patient record to able to be accessed by the targeted health providers. The commitment scheme authenticates the targeted hospital prior to data access. The findings and conclusion of the proposed system will provide very quick and efficient way of delivering emergency medical services. With the proposed system, the large numbers of victims can be served timely and quickly while ensuring security and preserving privacy.Additionally, the system utilizes the portable devices for example wristbands hence it can save people who are in death-to-life condition right at the point of incidences.
