With the rapid development of network technology and its applications,the network status in the local area network(LAN)becomes more and more complicated,which therefore gives rise to a corresponding diversity of network detection services.Meanwhile,it also brings many potential risks.As a result,how to deal with the increasingly serious network harm has become a hot issue in current network research.Detecting the objects in the network and their running conditions is especially important.Software-Defined Networking(SDN)is an innovative network framework,having a centralized control plane,a distributed forwarding plane,and flexible network programmability.With the centralized control and programmable features of SDN,it is easy to implement the detection of network conditions and the management of network devices.The network based on OpenFlow is a more mature implementation of SDN.Aiming at the issue,this thesis designs and implements a network detection tool called “SDN-Monitor”,which can control the SDN controllers and OpenFlow-supported network devices in the network by using the SDN technology as well as its features.The network detection tool located in the application layer of SDN network framework is an application based on the Floodlight controller,providing network managers with the customized graphical user interface.This application mainly provides some network detection functions,i.e.,displaying the main information on network topology,switches and hosts,monitoring the traffic through switches,detecting host online states,managing the flow tables of Openflow switches,and managing the firewall.Finally,via building an experimental SDN network environment based on Mininet,the functions of the designed SDN-Monitor are verified,and the result indicates that SDN-Monitor is effective and feasible for detecting the SDN-based network.The SDN-based network detection application designed in the thesis is verified in the simulation environment,and the design and implementation of its functions and codes are the practices of SDN northbound interface and the application plane.The work in the thesis was supported by the National Nature Science Foundation of China(NSFC)Project(No.61103248)“Research on the Key Technologies of Intra-and Inter-Datacenter Optical Switching Networks”.
