Rapid development of the Internet raises high reliability,high bandwidth and high dynamic data transmission demands to the WAN,a basic network,which supports the uplayer business.The network reliability becomes increasingly important,because user experience is becoming more ande more sensitive to network outages.Due to the boom of various Internet businesses and the users' different levels,dynamic and differential data transmission are demanded urgently.SDN(Software Defined Network),a new type of network architecture which splits the network control and data forwarding into two different planes,is a promising solution to these challenges.Recently Google and Microsoft have built SDN on their WAN and achieved promising results.A SDN-based path optimization technology was designed and developed,promising the data could be transmitted efficiently without the loss of stability of traditional network,via utilizing MPLS or OpenFlow tunnels.On the one hand,the fast path repair was realized to achieve high reliability in case of network outages.On the other hand,customized forwarding paths were provided to the specified data streams,improving the network utilization.
