With the increase of the interchangeable multimedia service, the demands for bandwidth become more and more urgent. Because of the wide coverage, broadcast, no restriction by geographical conditions, wideband satellite communications has become the mainstream of the future satellite communication.The wideband multimedia satellite communication system based on TCP/IP combines the digital multimedia, satellite broadcasting and internet together. It aims at providing unified service platform for new application, realizing high capacity transmission and supporting high quality Internet access.Based on the future demand of wideband multimedia satellite communication, this thesis cards the key technologies of the wideband multimedia satellite communication system based on TCP/IP, and gives the system architecture, function composition and protocol of the wideband multimedia satellite communication system. Further, the networking, protocol optimization, on-board processing and switching of the wideband multimedia satellite communication system were investigated deeply. The resource management and allocation and the Qo S guarantee of the system were also investigated. The design and realization scheme of the on-board switcher and the strategies of the dynamic resource allocation and Qo S guarantee were proposed.Based on the above research, semi-physical simulation and demonstration system was constructed. The system design, routing, Qo S guarantee and TCP acceleration were tested. From the results, it can be seen that all designs are conform to the pre-design.
