The Study Of The Influence Of The 2017 Competition Rules On The Skills And Tactics Of Taekwondo Athletes

Since 2016 Olympic Games in Rio,World Taekwondo Federation(WTF)introduced the new taekwondo rules at Jan.2017.The report aims to compare and analyze the influence of the new rules on athletes' technique and tactics.Therefore,the study focused on the comparison of athlete's technique and tactics from four different levels of women' event at national championships in 2016 and in 2017 under the old rules and the new rules respectively.In addition,the study involved various data collection and analysis methods,such as,interview,observation,comparison,and statistical techniques.The followings are the main points of the study results.Study reveals that: The new rule is more detailed and rigorous in four aspects including score,foul and penalty,disqualification and margin victory.The time of advantage judgment,instant-replay review and overtime has been shortened for the purpose of standardizing the athlete's behavior and saving time.In technique comparison,except reduced rate of utilization,success and scoring on pushing kick technique,others all are significantly increased among which the turning kick was the main one for score.In tactic comparison,active attacking tactics,head-on tactics and the defensive counter-attack tactics have greatly risen in times of use,while the rate of success and scoring of counter-attack tactics,as well as players number in 78 kg above,have dropped obviously.In foul comparison,catch and push,misconduct,avoidance or negative foul has increased.The new rule has stricter penalty mechanism,augmenting athletes' game intensity,raising offensive consciousness of scoring and eliminating negative behaviors.With more intense competition and higher score,result becomes more unpredictable,which keeps the taekwondo game wonderful and enjoyable.Suggestions aimed at the problems:(1)Coaches are supposed to enhance the study for 2017 new rule.By dialectical cognition to the developing trend of technique& tactic under the new rule,they will renew the ideas and break the routines so that they can make relative strategies,use competitive rules reasonably,develop new tactics,methods,and ways of training,all that are for the better using in game.(2)Under the new rule,straight fist technology will get more attention.Using straight fist to replace close assistant action and carry out special training,focusing on the training of speed,strength and accuracy of turning kick technique,athletes could cultivate personal expertise according to their own situation,and strengthen their training for highly difficult scoring techniques,which in order to achieve high marks in competition or turn the situation around at critical moments.(3)Coaches should use “push and kick” tactic reasonably,focus on cultivating athletes' ability of active attack and uplift physical training in order to improve the counter ability under the high-intensity game.(4)Athletes should adapt to the reduction of foul,change their bad habits of using negative ways to get benefits under the old rule.
