After the curriculum reform,teachers are required to be able to smoothly change their roles so that students become "masters" of the classroom.In teaching,it is necessary to highlight the main role of students and highlight their "learning".In school education,textbooks are the main source of knowledge for students and the main basis for teachers' teaching.In 2004,the high school biology textbook published by the People's Education Press,in addition to the traditional text content,also set up a variety of supplementary teaching small columns.The setting of these columns is extremely useful for improving students' thinking,reasoning,and expression skills.Through the learning of different small columns,students' learning methods can be changed.The development and use of columns by teachers in the teaching process directly affects the teaching effect and the realization of course goals.This article sorts out the research on the textbook columns by consulting the literature,and uses the content analysis method to analyze the "sidebar thinking" column from the aspects of quantity,distribution,characteristics,and usage.And through student questionnaires and interviewing teacher,the investigation on the application status of the "sidebar thinking" column found that the use of this column in classroom teaching is not ideal.Combined with the results of the column analysis and the actualities of the survey,some strategies for applying the "sidebar thinking" column in biology teaching in high school were discussed: using the "sidebar thinking" column for pre-class preview,introduction of new lessons,class discussion,and class questioning simultaneously,take a class summary,and as an after-school exercise.Based on the strategies proposed above,the author has carried out teaching practices and found that the strategies proposed in this article for the actualities are feasible,which has basically improved the application of the "sidebar thinking" column in the teaching class.The effective application of this column in teaching is beneficial to teachers and students,can improve students' enthusiasm,enhance students' interest in learning,and also help teachers improve their teaching ability.
