The mind map which was proposed by British "father of memory" Tony Bozan,in 1970,has a wide range of applications, especially in the study of mathematics teaching. After learning about the teaching value of the mind map, this research aims at the teaching of trigonometric functions in high schools in China, and explores how to use mind maps to teach trigonometric functions for solving and improving some of the problems in the unit teaching, thereby improving the effectiveness of teaching and providing teachers with more choices of teaching methods. This research was mainly conducted by literature analysis, questionnaire survey and interview method. In this study, firstly, through the literature analysis method, collect data to analyze the feasibility of mathematical teaching of mind maps;secondly, through a questionnaire survey of 267 students and 25 math teachers in S School of K City, understand the current status of trigonometric function teaching; Finally, the existing problems are combined with theoretical support to design and implement cases.3 students and 3 teachersinvolved in the implementation of case design are interviewed to analyze the effect of case implementation.Findings from this study are as follows:First of all,the application of mind maps in the teaching of trigonometric functions has following values:(1)Mind map lessons can stimulate students' interest in learning;(2)Mind maps are thinking visualization tools that can turn abstraction into concrete and improve students' abstraction and generalization(3)It can help diversify students' thinking;(4)It can help students improve the relevant knowledge structure;(5)It can assist teachers in understanding students and help students make self-examination.Secondly,combined with the students-oriented,problem-solving-oriented,thinking-oriented goals and principles of the latest development zone in mind map teaching, specific teaching strategies are proposed, and case design is carried out. Finally, through case investigation,it is found that:(1)For teachers' teaching, mind maps can help teachers show the course of thinking development;(2)Teachers can also use mind maps for teaching preparation and design;(3)Through mind guides, teachers can better understand the gap between what they teach and what students have.As for student' learning,(1)Mind maps help students learn new knowledge;(2)Mind map lessons help students to review and organize what they have learned;(3)Mind maps can cultivate students' divergence thinking and autonomous learning. Therefore, penetrating this theory into trigonometric function teaching has a positive impact on students and teachers. As this research has indicated, mind maps have some application value for teaching trigonometric functions in high schools. It is hoped that this research will draw attention to the application of mind maps in mathematics teaching and provide effective teaching reference for frontline high school mathematics teachers.
