The basic chemical concepts including particles concept,element concept,classification concept,experimental concept,structure concept and concept of chemical values,are indispensable to each high school students.Particles concept holds an important position among them.How to measure and evaluate present particles concept development level of high school senior 1 students with two-year experience of learning chemistry,how to train and develop students' skills to understand particles concept are two serious questions need to investigate as soon as possible for chemical educators.Five first level indexes including constituting substances concept,particles gaps concept,particles motion concept,particles interaction concept,particles metering concept and their corresponding secondary indexes are constructed by using operationalization of chemical particles concept.“chemical particles concept level test papers of high school senior 1 students”(measurement tool)are compiled,pre-tested and evaluated with the large sample in practice school.The modified test paper is used to evaluate the development level of particles concept in Guangzhou's and Heyuan's senior 1 students.Descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,and two independent samples t-test methods are used to analyze the test data.According to the test analysis result,it is necessary to design a questionnaire of studying the subjective factors about high school senior 1 students' concept of chemical particles,which is related to learning interest,learning initiative,class performance and imagination etc.Research results are as follows:The reliability of pre-testing measurement tool is 0.77;the average difficulty is 0.47;the distinction is 0.55;the reliability of the questionnaire is 0.58;the validity is 0.59.The reliability of modified measurement tool is 0.71;the validity is 0.71;the average difficulty of measurement tool is 0.57;the distinction of measurement tool is 0.42;the reliability and the validity of modified questionnaire are 0.57.These figures show that "chemistry particles concept level papers of high school freshmen" has good reliability which can measure and evaluate particles concept level of high school freshmen.Chemistry particles concept level test scores of all sample students are in line with the normal distribution by analyzing test results with descriptive statistics.The overall average is 56.98 and the standard deviation is 16.89.Particles concept level of high school students is basically in the acknowledge level and it need to be improved.The average of the school from Guangzhou is 63.53 which is higher than the overall average and the average of the school from Heyuan is 49.94 which is relatively low.When the confidence level is 0.01,the research can be concluded that the teaching focus of schools or classes are particles interaction concept,particles metering concept through analyzing the Pearson correlation between scores of each level indexes and test score.Simultaneously,the average scoring rate of these two concepts are lower than other level indexes which show that they are also difficulties.Moreover,when the confidence level is 0.01,the focus and the difficulty between the boys and girls,highachieve-students and underachieve-students,liberal arts students and science students are also particles interaction concept,particles metering concept which is the same as the one at school or in class.The research also finds that the particles concept of boys is stronger than girls',highachieve-students have relatively higher competence than underachieve-students,and the science students are stronger than the liberal arts students when the confidence level is 0.05.In this study,it also researches the subjective factors in developing the particles concept of students' learning process.The results show that the interest in learning knowledge about the particles concept and the chemistry class performance of students from Guangzhou are better than Heyuan's.This paper constructs the evaluation indexes system of high school students' particles concept which contains particles metering concept at the first time.It firstly uses Pearson's correlated analysis to get the teaching focus and makes use of the average scoring rate to get the difficulty in developing student's particles concept.According to the curriculum standards,teachers can construct the evaluation system of the particles concept that is suitable for their students in developing student's particles concept.Then,teachers construct the test which is relevant to the evaluation system of the particles concept and test students.Next,teachers should use a variety of statistical methods to analyze the test results like using Pearson's correlation analysis to get the teaching focus and making use of the average scoring rate to get the difficulty in developing student's particles concept.Finally,teachers formulate training strategies of the particles concept which are suitable for their area,school or class. |
