In the process of mate selection, people(observer)refer to the evaluation of other members of the same sex(model)on the opposite sex(target),so as to copy the same-sex partner selection, which is mate choice copying.Previous studies mainly focused on the influence of face attractiveness, personality and other factors on mate choice copying, and most of the studies were conducted from a single aspect of model, target,or observer. This study manipulated the economic level of the model, target, and observer, and further explored the specific influence of economic level on mate choice copying in the ternary context,as well as the mediating role of the predicted target personality.Experiment 1 manipulated the economic level of the model. The results showed that the targets with high-earning current girlfriends were more attractive than those with high-earning high school classmates, showing the phenomenon of mate choice copying; However, under the condition of low income, there was no significant difference between the two.The evaluation of the target's personality plays a mediating role.Experiment 2 manipulated the economic status of the model, the target and the observer. The results showed that the economic level of the model and the economic level of the target were interacted: only when the target with low income was paired with the model with high income, did the observer make mate choice copying;Although the mediating effect of the observers on the target's personality was not significant, when the target with low income was paired with the model with high income, the target's personality score of the current girlfriend was significantly higher than that of the high school students.
