Study On The Influence Of Family Intergenerational Relationship On The Consumption Behavior Of The Elderly

Population aging is an important social problem throughout the 21 st century in China.How to deal with the huge wave of silver hair and promote the economic development of the elderly is the key and difficult point in the process of active aging.The consumption behavior of the elderly is mainly influenced by society,family and individual.A large number of studies show that social factors and personal factors have a significant effect on the consumption behavior of the elderly,but the influence of family factors on the consumption behavior of the elderly has not been paid enough attention.Therefore,on the premise of controlling the individual population factors,health factors,economic factors,social welfare factors and children factors of the elderly,this paper focuses on the influence of different dimensions of family intergenerational relations on the consumption behavior of the elderly.Based on the existing research,this paper divides the family intergenerational relationship into children's upward support for the elderly and the elderly's downward support for their children.Using the data of the 2016 Chinese(CLASS),this paper analyzes the relationship between the family intergenerational relationship and the elderly's consumption behavior,and further establishes the generalized ordered Logistic model to influence the elderly's consumption behavior Factors were studied.It is found that children's intergenerational support to the elderly will have a significant impact on the consumption behavior of the elderly.Among them,children's intergenerational emotional support and intergenerational economic support have a significant positive effect on the total monthly household expenditure of the elderly,while children's intergenerational tool support will significantly reduce the expenditure of the elderly.The intergenerational support provided by the elderly for their children will also have an impact on their consumption behavior.The more intergenerational financial support and intergenerational tool support are provided to children,the more likely the elderly are to generate more totalmonthly household expenditure.The consumption behavior of the elderly in rural areas is more likely to be affected by the intergenerational economic support provided by their children,but the intergenerational economic support provided to their children has little impact on the total monthly household expenditure of the elderly in rural areas.In contrast,the urban elderly pay more attention to emotional communication with their children.The intergenerational economic support provided by their children has little impact on the total monthly household expenditure of the urban elderly,and the extent of the urban elderly providing excessive intergenerational support to their children has no significant impact on their expenditure.According to the research results,this paper also puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions for the development of the economy of the elderly and the stable and harmonious new family intergenerational relationship,which provides a new perspective and direction for the construction of China's social pension security system,provides a theoretical basis for giving full play to the good effect of family intergenerational relationship on the elderly's later life,and makes a contribution to responding to China's active aging policy Strength.
