Education is an important part of people ‘s livelihood, concerning the improvement of population quality and the future of national development, good education can promote the overall development of the population and cope with the changing environment.Faced with the current social realities such as great social competition and severe employment situation, many families choose after-school tutoring for supplementary learning in addition to mainstream school education, even from elementary school to basic education, choosing extra-curricular tutoring behavior has gradually become a social phenomenon worthy of our attention. The tutoring behavior reflects to some extent the status of family cognition, the development of education, and the overall atmosphere of the social environment, therefore,it is of great significance to study the content of extracurricular tutoring. This research is in this environment, using literature method, case study method, interview method and questionnaire survey method, from the perspective of rational choice theory, this paper conducts a holistic study and analysis of primary school students' choice of extracurricular tutoring behavior.First of all, using Coleman's rational choice theory as the research framework, starting from the macro environment, analyze the factors that affect the choice of tutoring for primary school students' families;second, the transition from the macro environment to the micro level, find the implementation logic for choosing extra-curricular tutoring behaviors.Understand the status of primary school students' participation in extra-curricular tutoring during field research, point out the behavioral characteristics of primary school students' family when they choose extracurricular tutoring. Then demonstrate from the actors themselves, the resources owned by the actors, the interests of the actors, and social norms, the study concluded: The choice of extra-curricular tutoring by elementary school students' families is a rational decision. This gives a reasonable explanation of the behavior in theory;thirdly, the macro social impact caused by the change of individual behaviors from microcosmic behaviors, this builds a complete theoretical research system. We should be able to see that the existence of extracurricular tutoring has reasonable meaning andvalue. But we must not ignore its possible negative effects.Make relevant recommendations at the end of the study, with a view to reducing the negative impact of choosing after-school tutoring,so as to improve students' education and make them more comprehensive and healthy development. The study pays more attention to the choice behavior of elementary school students' tutoring. Also pay more attention to the special status of the family in the selection process. In addition,it was stated more clearly that research was conducted around the families of primary school students.Thereby it is more targeted.Combining empirical research with normative theoretical explanations during the research process, this also has certain significance and value for enriching the corresponding theoretical system, tapping the deep connotation behind it,and for the public to have a more objective and comprehensive understanding of it.
