The Research Of Yu Jieshi's Mathematics Education Ideas

The period of the Republic of China is an important period for the development of mathematics education in China.During this period,a lot of mathematics education talents emerged.They still braved hardships and made great contributions to the modern mathematics education of our country in the era of bumpy national fate and turbulent current situation.Yu Jieshi(1901-1968),a mathematician,abacus mathematician and popular science writer in China,is one of them.He wrote mathematics textbooks,mathematics popular science works and studied teaching methods in the period of the Republic of China,which has done a lot of useful work for the development of mathematics education in China.45 years of Educational career,he formed a wealth of mathematical education ideas.Mr.Yu Jieshi's mathematics education thought not only had a positive impact on the middle school mathematics education at that time,but also had an important reference for the current mathematics education in China.This paper uses the methods of literature research,historical research and case study,and takes the mathematics textbook,mathematics popular science works and books related to teaching methods compiled by Yu Jieshi as the first-hand research materials,to explore Yu Jieshi's mathematics education thoughts.Among them,the mathematics education ideas embodied in mathematics textbooks mainly include: student-oriented;infiltrating mathematics thoughts and methods;paying attention to practical application of exercises;reflecting the integration of various branches.The main ideas of mathematics education embodied in mathematics popular science works are: attaching importance to the history of mathematics;starting from the opposite side,arousing interest;knowing its nature,and knowing its reason;communicating middle mathematics and higher mathematics.The main ideas of mathematics teaching are: advocating heuristic teaching method;paying attention to the cultivation of basic mathematical ability;emphasizing the teaching of methods;teaching students according to their aptitude.By mining Yu Jieshi's mathematics education thought,we hope to provide enlightenment and reference for today's mathematics education,and learn from the outstanding qualities of mathematicians in the Republic of China,so as to have a clearer understanding of Yu Jieshi.The innovations of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1)For the first time,from the perspective of mathematics education thought,this paper studies the mathematics textbook,mathematics popular science works and related teaching method books compiled by Yu Jieshi.(2)Through the research and analysis of mathematics popular science books compiled by Yu Jieshi,this paper expounds Yu Jieshi's contribution to the spread of mathematics knowledge and the development of science popularization in China.(3)According to the teaching method books compiled by Yu Jieshi,this paper digs Yu Jieshi's mathematics teaching thought,which provides enlightenment and reference for the current mathematics teaching.
