| Education plays a very important role in promoting economic development and improving residents' income.Especially since the country started to implement targeted poverty alleviation in 2015,the education construction in rural areas has become an important strategy to promote the construction of new countryside. The new generation of migrant workers is the main force in the construction of new countryside. The education stage they choose will have an important impact on increasing human capital and promoting income. The increase of income brought by the improvement of individual education level is often used as a measure of the economic benefits of this education stage-returns to education, which is also the main reference for individuals and families to make decisions on investment in education. On the basis of previous studies on the return on education and the empirical analysis of the impact mechanism of the existing wage income of migrant workers, this study analyzes the educational returns of 928 new generation migrant workers in the China Comprehensive Social Survey(CGSS),and explains the corresponding educational returns at different stages of education,as well as the educational returns of different genders at each stage difference.First of all, based on Mincer's income model and its extended model, this study uses Stata software and the least square method(OLS)to perform regression analysis on the overall sample, men's and women's returns on education. After that, this study uses the propensity score matching method(PSM)to eliminate heterogeneity differences and interference factors between groups, and analyzes from a policy perspective to increase the robustness of the estimation results. Finally, the Fisher's combination test was used to analyze the gender differences in the returns of each education stage. The results of the study found that:Firstly, there is a significant gender difference in returns on education, and the returns on education for women among the new generation of migrant workers is significantly higher than for men.Secondly, the average returns on education estimated by Mincer's income expansion model is 7.13%.The results of the treatment effect of wage return level in each education stage estimated by propensity scorematching method show that:If a new generation of migrant workers receive another year of secondary vocational education, men's wage income will increase by 5.0% and women's wage income will increase by 6.8%;if they receive another year of high school education, gender wage income will increase separately 5.3% and 7.1%;for each additional year of university education, male's and female's wage income will increase by 7.4% and 15.8%,respectively.Thirdly,after excluding self-selection bias and heterogeneity differences by using the propensity score matching method, the calculated result is slightly higher than the result estimated using the Mincer income model, but there is no obvious deviation in the ranking of the return on education in each stage, which is the performance of excluding the heterogeneity differences.According to statistics, the order of return on education from high to low is:university, vocational school, high school, junior high school;at the same time, the results show that the resource allocation in rural areas has not yet reached the optimal allocation. |
